In HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer series, if any one of the ink cartridges is low on ink, you will have to replace it to continue printing. Even if you are trying to print only in black, the color ink cartridges should not be empty as the printer is designed in such a way that, it uses some amount of color ink to produce a perfect black.

 

Check ink levels

On the printer, touch Settings, touch Tools, and then touch Estimated Ink Levels.

If any ink cartridges are critically low or empty, replace them with new genuine HP ink cartridges.
