When I send a pdf document to print on my MFP M281cdw from my MacBook Pro running macOS Sonoma 14.5 it will print half a page, then follow up with the full page. It does this for every page no matter how many pages in the document. This doesn't happen with Word documents or printing web pages, only pdf's. I've turned the printer and my computer on/off, unplugged the printer, waited and plugged back in, uninstalled/reinstalled the program and updated the firmware to the most recent version. Nothing seems to help. Looking at the job list from Print Center it looks like two copies gets sent to it instead of just one. Not sure if this is part of the problem. Help would be appreciated because I've wasted at least 1/2 a work day trying to figure this out myself through online searches. Thank you.

Hi @grouchfitz,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, but let's try a few more things to see if we can resolve the issue.
- Print from Adobe Acrobat Reader: If you're not already using Adobe Acrobat Reader to open your PDFs, try printing from it instead of the default PDF viewer on macOS. Sometimes different PDF viewers can have compatibility issues with printers.
- Check Print Settings: When printing from Acrobat Reader, make sure the print settings are configured correctly. Ensure that the correct paper size, orientation, and scaling options are selected.
- Printer Driver: Make sure you have the latest printer driver installed for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw. Sometimes, reinstalling the driver can resolve compatibility issues.
- PDF File: Try printing a different PDF file to see if the issue persists. There might be something specific to the PDF file causing the problem.
- Reset Printing System: You can try resetting the printing system on your MacBook Pro. This will remove all printers and scanners from your list of available devices. To do this, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list, and select "Reset printing system." Then re-add your printer and try printing again.
- Check Printer Settings: Access the printer settings directly through its web interface. Make sure there are no settings causing it to print multiple copies or causing delays between pages.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
