Printed page is just black

Same problem here - hp2840 printer, several different Android devices all running Lollipop, printer is detected ok but all that ever gets printed is a sheet of black paper.  Changing from colour mode to black and white doesn't make any difference (except that it produces an error message on the device, "output is blocked by printer", after printing the dud page).  Has anyone tried other printing apps to see if they work?  I'm assuming HP just don't care because the problem arises with older printer models - that would be typical.  But it's short-sighted: I'll be looking round for a manufacturer who do recognize that people keep printers going for a long time.

This reply is a little late, but same problem here hp2840 printer, several different android devices now running android 7.0. It used to print fine in color but after driver updates it just prints a full sheet of black. However, I did test all of the apps and I have a partial workaround that works for me (but it only prints in grayscale). The hp print service plugin recognizes the printer but prints the black page whether you choose color or black and white option. Google cloud print and Samsung print service don't recognize the printer at all. However, the Printershare app does recognize that a printer exists but you need to manually install the right driver. If you install a color laserjet driver it prints a black page, but if you install the hp 2200 series driver (which is for a non color laserjet), the printer will print in grayscale. None of the other apps I tried allowed me to manually install another driver. Hope this helps.
