I have had 24 hours of troubleshooting trying to get a M180nw connected to Win7 and Win10 wirelessly, with only success on the Win7 (with much pain to get that far).  Had to connect the Win7 via USB first, then add a TCP/IP port, then change the ports. Thought I have made further progress with this web-connect option until I tried to send a print job with no success. Logged on to hpconnected.com, no computeres registered, but getting the message from HP that "This printer has already been claimed."

After years of experience with HP, I have concluded the problem is that HP cannot write software. I  will return the most recent HP product and go with another brand.

@CanadianPilgrim,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Let's start off by updating the printer firmware. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update on your printer from our HP support website. Click here to download and install the latest firmware. Once done, restart the computer.

For more details on how to update, please use this link: HP LaserJet - Update the firmware

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to do a hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Make sure that Web services is enabled on the printer and the printer is registered with HP Connected.

Follow this procedure to enable HP Web Services and register with HP Connected:

1. On the printer control panel, press the Setup button. Open the Network Setup menu, select Show IP Address, and then select Yes. Return to the Home screen to view the IP address.

2. Open a web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or host name exactly as it displays on the printer control panel. Press the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens.

NOTE: If the web browser displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing this website will not harm the computer.

3. Click the HP Web Services tab, and then click Enable. The printer enables Web Services, and then prints an information page. The information page contains the printer code necessary to register the HP printer at HP Connected.

4. Go to www.hpconnected.com to create an HP ePrint account and complete the setup process
