I'm able to connect and print from my phone but cannot from my computer. I restarted my printer a number of times and also tried deleting the printers from my printer list on my computer but now am not able to add them as my computer is unable to connect. I made sure that both my computer and my printer are connected to the same wifi and still nothing is working!

A warm welcome to HP Support Community!
Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?
What's the make and model of your WiFi router?
Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

Thank you for your response.
My mac does not have any antivirus software installed. The router is a SageMCom Fast 5260.
I did the network utility ping using the printer's IP address and it came back:
10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

You are welcome! It looks like Mac is not able to send and receive data from the printer. Resetting the printer network setting and then re-connecting the printer to your home WiFi may resolve the issue. Here is how to do it:
1.) Unplug your modem/router and leave it powered off.
2.) Restart your printer, from the printer control panel, touch "Setup". Touch "Network Setup", touch "Restore Network Defaults" and touch Yes.
3.) Power off your printer
4.) Reconnect your modem/router and wait for it to re-establish its internet connection.
5.) Power on your printer.
6.) From the printer control panel, touch "Setup". Touch Network Setup.
7.) Touch Wireless Settings. select Wireless Setup Wizard.
8.) Follow the display instructions to complete the setup
Let me know how it goes!
If the information I've provided was helpful.

I followed all of you steps but sadly it still won't connect. I did try to ping again and all of it came back and nonresponsive.
Strangely though I had a print job pending last night when I shut down my computer but it couldn't find the printer of course. This morning when I turned on my computer, half the page printed but that was it. I don't know if that's helpful information.

Let's remove the existing printer driver and setup the printer with Apple AirPrint. The following steps should help you remove the existing printer driver and setup the printer with Apple AirPrint:
Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with it's software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.

I've updated the printer but when I try to add the printer again I'm getting the error message:
Unable to connect to ‘HP Officejet Pro 8610 [9FAF2C]._ipp._tcp.local.’ due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?

Have you tried selecting AirPrint while adding the printer?
Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?
Could you also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.
