HP ENVY Photo 7855
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I operate in a Mac OS X Siera environment, but when using  Intuit's Turbo Tax  for tax preparation (for last 3-4 years) I set up a virtual environment using Parallels 12 to create a PC environment with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer.  Prior to this year, I have been able to run the Turbo Tax programs successfully and print the forms and returns on my HP ENVY 7855.  However, this year everything worked the same as last year, but when I tried to execute the print program, it stopped at the point that the data was transferred via the network to the printer.  The error message said: "This remote device or resource con't accept the connection."   Printer troubleshooting diagnostic gave me this 2 messages: "Problems found:  Printer HP ENVY Photo 7855 cannot be contacted over the network (Not fixed) and the printer is turned off. (Defected).  Note:  the printer is not turned off.  The problem only exists in the virtual PC environment as described above and every other document  prints fine in the Mac OS X Sierra environment.  QUESTION: How to fix the problem since I need to print 4 2018 tax returns and presently I'm dead in the water, with no working connection to the printer.  Added:   Updates to existing software from 2017:  2018 Turbo Tax all updates done; Windows 7 updated with Package 1, Java updated. Need advice and technical assistance please.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Assigning a static IP address and restarting the network devices can resolve this issue:

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

Tap the  Wireless icon to know the IP address of the printer

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

NOTE: Use the existing IP address of your printer while assigning manual IP

Now, shut down the router, printer, and the computer

Power ON the router, wait, then start the printer and the computer

Go to Devices and printer > Highlight the printer > Remove device

Click on Add a printer > Add a network printer > Use the IP address and install the printer by selecting the appropriate driver for the printer

Try to print.

Let me know how this goes
