Hi, have just successfully the printer using OS 12.2 on an iPad. Printer works brilliantly, but the host name mysteriously appears as ‘EleanorsIphone2’. Eleanor is the lovely girl that lives next door and, unsurprisingly, owns an IPhone. I am reluctant to start messing about with the set-up as the printer is performing as expected, but is there an easy way to change the host name to something recognisable to my family?

Just got rid of the spaces and it has accepted the new host name. Thanks for such a rapid reply!

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- When you try to print from your iPad to the HP printer, do you see 'EleanorsIphone2' rather than HP Envy 5010 printer?
To change the printer's hostname:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless
” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- If you get a security notification, click on proceed to this website.
- Go to Networking tab > Hostname > change it as desired > apply > OK
Let me know how this goes.

I try to make the Host Name ‘HP Envy 5010’ but it is coming up with an error message ‘Invalid input’.
(Incidentally, why don’t software developers say what is valid and not what is invalid. It would make life a lot simpler).
