I have an HP 8610. It keeps getting stuck in busy mode. Plus the copies using copy feature  have streaks in them.

Hi @lslapides,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Officejet Pro 8610 gets stuck in busy mode and produces copies with streaks, it indicates several potential issues with the printer's hardware or software. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to resolve these problems:

1. Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the busy mode issue persists after the printer restarts.

2. Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer's access door and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully to ensure it doesn't tear and leave behind debris that could cause streaks.

3. Clean the Printhead:

  • Access the printer's settings menu and look for the option to clean the printhead.
  • Run the printhead cleaning utility to remove any clogs or debris that may be causing streaks on the copies.

4. Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels. Low ink levels can affect print quality and may lead to streaks.
  • Replace any low or empty ink cartridges with new ones.

5. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for firmware updates for your HP Officejet Pro 8610.
  • Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download/install any available firmware updates.

6. Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a partial reset or semi-full reset on the printer to restore it to its default settings.
  • Consult your printer's user manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to perform a reset.

7. Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is correctly connected to your computer or network.
  • If using a wireless connection, check the Wi-Fi signal strength and stability.

8. Test Print:

  • Print a test page from your computer to check if the streaks persist.
  • If the streaks continue, it may indicate a hardware issue that requires further troubleshooting or repair.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
