Hi @RICKY071,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP ENVY Photo 6234 printer and phone are on the same network, but the printer won’t activate when you try to print. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart Devices

Power off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds, then reconnect and restart.

Restart your phone to refresh the network connection.

Confirm Wi-Fi Band Compatibility

The printer supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only.

Make sure your phone and printer are connected to the same 2.4GHz band, not 5GHz.

Check Printer Status in HP Smart App

Open the HP Smart app on your phone.

If the printer shows as offline, remove it and re-add it using “Set up a new printer.”

Verify Printer Queue

On your phone, check the print queue in HP Smart.

Cancel any stuck jobs, then try printing again.

Update Firmware and App

In HP Smart, check for printer firmware updates.

Also update the HP Smart app to the latest version from the App Store/Play Store.

Test Direct Printing

Try printing a test page directly from the printer’s control panel.

If this works, the issue is with phone-to-printer communication.

Check Router Settings

Ensure the router is not blocking new devices or using isolation mode.

Disable guest network or MAC filtering if enabled.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

On the printer, go to Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select your Wi-Fi network and re-enter the password carefully.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
