Every print job i send gets blocked. I have cleared cache, I cancel and clear print jobs, checked ink, checked paper, no jams,... Even restarted the printer... I am stumped. I cannot get a single page to print. Just the top inch or so, then it stops printing with the error printer blocked document... I have no clue what else to do. Any ideas?

Hi @StumpedAgain2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue of a blocked document that stops printing after the first inch may stem from various causes, such as driver conflicts, firmware issues, or communication problems. Here's a structured troubleshooting approach.

Verify the Printer Queue

  1. Check Pending Print Jobs:
    • On your computer, open the printer's queue and ensure no jobs are stuck or showing errors.
    • Clear all jobs in the queue, restart the print spooler service, and try printing again.

Check Driver and Connection

Reinstall or Update the Printer Driver:

  • Uninstall your current printer driver from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest driver from the HP Support Website.

Check the Connection:

  • If you're using USB, ensure the cable is secure and not damaged.
  • If you're using Wi-Fi, check that the printer is connected to the correct network and has a strong signal.

Test with a Different File/Program

Print a Different Document:

  • Test with a simple file, like a one-page Word document or plain text.
  • If the issue persists, the problem may not be document-specific.

Try Printing from Another Program or Device:

  • Use a different application to print.
  • Try printing from a different device (e.g., smartphone, another computer).

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • On your printer's settings menu, look for firmware update options.
    • Alternatively, check the HP Support site for firmware updates for your model.

Run HP Diagnostic Tools

HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows):

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to detect and fix issues.

HP Smart App:

  • Use the app (on mobile or desktop) to troubleshoot and resolve issues automatically.

Test with Internal Printer Functions

  1. Print a Test Page:
    • Use the printer's menu to print a self-test or configuration page.
    • If it prints successfully, the problem may lie with the computer or document.

Reset the Printer

  1. Perform a Factory Reset:
    • Locate the reset option in the printer's settings menu.
    • Refer to the user manual for instructions specific to your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
