Hi @jim7572,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the Internal Server Error.
I recommend a fresh start with your HP Officejet Pro 8620 E-All-In-One Printer setup wherein you uninstall your drivers and reinstall while using your USB connection to convert to wireless. Here's how:
Click here to install the HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility. Run this utility to fully remove your printer's driver.
An HTTP Status 500 – Internal Server Error on an HP Officejet Pro 8620 E-All-In-One Printer typically indicates an issue with the printer's internal web server or firmware. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve internal errors.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can update the firmware directly from the printer or through the HP website.
- From the printer:
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
- From the HP website:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter "HP Officejet Pro 8620" and select your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware update.
Check Printer Network Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is connected to the network correctly.
- Print a network configuration page to verify the printer's IP address and connection status:
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Print Network Configuration Page.
Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @jim7572,
Please find the next set of steps below.
Clear Browser Cache:
- If you're accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) and encountering the HTTP 500 error, try clearing your web browser's cache and cookies.
- Open the EWS again and see if the error persists.
Reset Printer Settings:
- As a last resort, you can reset the printer to its factory settings. Note that this will erase all network and configuration settings.
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- After the reset, you will need to reconnect the printer to your network and reconfigure your settings.
Additional Steps:
Check for Web Server Issues:
- If you're accessing the printer's web interface and getting the HTTP 500 error, ensure there are no issues with your network or web browser. Try using a different web browser or accessing the EWS from a different device.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a more serious problem with the printer's internal web server or firmware. Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
