HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer

My printer is having connectivity issues. I reset it and restored factory settings. The Wi-Fi is fully connected but it will not print from my phone or mac at all. It just says connecting… on my Mac it’s asking for the admin name and password which I have no idea. How do I reset this . Also what steps should I take to try and diagnose

Hi @Bjay2023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing connectivity issues with your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-In-One Printer. Let's try a few steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network. Verify the Wi-Fi settings on the printer to make sure it's connected to the correct network.

Reboot Devices:

  • Restart your printer, Mac, and your router. This can often resolve connectivity issues.

Printer Software Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the printer's software might help in resolving compatibility issues. Click here

Printer Queue:

  • On your Mac, check the print queue to ensure there are no pending print jobs causing the delay.

Now, regarding the issue with your Mac asking for the admin name and password, it's likely related to printer settings or system permissions. Here's how you can address that:

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer's web interface using its IP address. You can usually find this in the printer settings or by printing a network configuration page.
  • To print the network configuration page 1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ). 2. Touch Print Reports and then touch Network  Page.
  • Once in the web interface, navigate to the settings and look for an option to reset to factory defaults

Admin Username and Password:

  • The default admin username and password for your HP printer may be found in the printer's manual. Click Here

Mac Permissions:

  • Check your Mac's system preferences for Printers & Scanners. Make sure that the correct printer is selected and that you have the necessary permissions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
