Printer in Error State

HP Recommended
Pavilion 15 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Envy 5020 Printer having previously used Epson with no problems.

No matter what I try I am unable to print anything. I get for the most part now that the Printer is in an Error State. I have had other messages in the past but I dont recall what they were but they related to the Printer being unavailable or not ready etc.

I am in desperate need of printing documents for work and cant afford another printer.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as downloading new Drivers and running diagnostics etc. Nothing works.

I understand that you are unable to print.


Please perform the hard reset and check.


  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on. 

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue. 

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. 

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. 

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds. 

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. 

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer. 

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. 

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed 

Please update the firmware.
