Hi there,

 

I have recently installed an HP Tango on my network. I am able to see the printer on my mobile device via HP Connect, but none of my devices can see the printer locally. Devices include a Windows 10 laptop, an Android phone, and Android tablet. All are on the same wifi network, and I can access the printer's EWS page via the IP address in my browser from each of these devices.

 

In EWS, the network configuration looks good, except that it says that internet is not connected. All settings are where they should be, as far as I know.

 

Currently, I can only print via the HP Smart app on my Android devices, using HP Connect, or by emailing my documents to the printer's @hpconnect.com address.

 

I have power cycled the router and printer (several times), and I have followed the steps here:

Nothing seems to work. I can't even add the printer manually in Windows using the TCP/IP address.

 

I actually returned a Deskjet 3755 to the store for the same issue, because I thought it was a dud, but now I realise it must be a problem with my network.

 

Unfortunately, I am not the one who manages the network. I have access to the router, physically, but I do not have persmissions to access the router firmware to view settings or make any changes, though I can get with the person who does if I know what I'm looking for.

 

Does anyone here have a suggestion on how I can fix this?

 

A tidbit of additional information that might help steer your thoughts in the right direction, I also recently had difficulty setting up a Google Home device on the same network, with similar symptoms. The Google Home said it was connected to the network, but my Google Home App wasn't able to see it after the setup was complete. A power cycle of the router fixed that problem, but did not fix the HP issue.

Editing to add: I was able to gain some sort of "normal" functionality by installing the Google Cloud Print driver to my laptop and connecting the Tango to Cloud Print. It works as a decent stopgap, but I would still like to figure out why I can't see the printer directly.

I have a few suggestions to help resolve the issue:

  • Let's start with printer and router firmware upgrades
     
  • If done, and yet the issue persists, restore the wireless defaults using the below steps:
    • On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds. The Edge lighting flashes blue.

    • connect the printer back to the network and check if that worked.

  • If the issue persists, assign a manual IP address (win10 & 😎 and automatic DNS server using the below steps:
    • Select Start > Control Panel.

    • Select View network status and tasks under Networking and Internet.
    • Select Change adapter settings.
    • Press and hold (or right-click)  Local Area Connection, and then select Properties.
    • Select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) > Properties.
    • Select Obtain an IPv6 address automatically > Obtain DNS servers address automatically > OK.
    • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties.
    • Select Obtain an IP address automatically Obtain DNS servers address automatically > OK.
