I have a printer that goes through the motions of printing, but nothing comes out on the paper. It`s an HP DeskJet 3630.

@ncan2006, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Which device are you trying to print from? What Operating system is installed?

Try making a standalone photocopy on the printer and check if it works. By this, we can check if the hardware of the printer is working fine.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Check estimated ink levels - Refer to and perform step 2 and Step 5 from this document

Let me know how this goes.

Hello again.

I have an HP DeskJet 3630 and running on Windows 10. The printer has never been used, so ink is okay.

Thank you for the response.

Did you try making a standalone Black and Color copy and check if that works? By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue with the printer.

Also, how is the printer connected to your PC? Is it with a USB cable or wireless?

Try printing a test report

Press and hold the Power button , and then press the Cancel button .

The test page prints.
