HP DeskJet 2633 All-in-One Printer
iOS

I cannot for the life of me get my printer to print in colour from my iPhone. It will print in colour when using the computer etc. I vaguely remember changing the setting to print in black and white only but now I don’t get any option to change it back to colour. Please help. I have tried uninstalling and re installing my printer, the hp app and printing via the app or via the hp app nothing is working.

Hi @Kaylajwbwnrk,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue with printing in color from your iPhone on the HP DeskJet 2633, follow these steps.

Check Print Settings in the HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2633 printer.
  • Tap on Print and then choose a document or photo to print.
  • In the print settings, look for an option that may have been set to Black & White or Grayscale. Make sure it’s set to Color.

Check iPhone Print Settings (AirPrint):

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down and tap on Printers or go directly to the print dialog (when trying to print a document/photo).
  • When selecting the printer, make sure HP DeskJet 2633 is selected.
  • Tap on Options or More Settings, and see if there’s a color option available. If it defaults to black and white, change it to Color.

Update Printer and App:

  • Ensure both the HP Smart app and the printer firmware are updated to the latest versions. Sometimes, outdated apps or firmware can cause issues with print settings.
  • In the HP Smart app, go to the Printer Settings to check for updates and follow the instructions to update.

Use AirPrint Directly:

  • If you haven’t tried it already, try printing directly from a compatible app like Photos or Safari using AirPrint, which may bypass app-specific settings.
  • To do this, open the document or photo you want to print, tap the Share button, then tap Print and choose your HP DeskJet 2633. If the app is set to print in black and white, check the printer settings to ensure color is selected.

Reset Printer Defaults:

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer can help clear any settings that might have been accidentally configured.
  • You can do this by turning off the printer, unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in and turning it on.

By following these steps, you should be able to get the printer back to printing in color from your iPhone.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
