My wife recently upgraded her phone to a Samsung Galaxy s9+.  We have been able to print successfully from the phone, but we have noticed that when the printer has been un-used for a while, it goes to sleep.  At that point, the phone cannot find the printer at all, and the only solution seems to be to go to the printer itself and press the power button to wake it up, and then re-boot the phone.  This seems very silly that I would have to do this.  I was recently shown by HP how to correct this problem on my PC (it worked, thank you), but I need to know how to correct it on a phone as well.  I don't think I should have to actually walk to the printer and wake it up.  I feel like I should be able to print anytime from my phone, as long as it and the printer are connected to the same WiFi network.  Any assistance you can provide would be welcome.

Thank you.

As I understand, your printer does not wake up when you give a print command from your new phone,

I'd like to thank you for the detailed description of your concern, as you have ensured I don't have to ask any more questions, that said,

Sleep mode issue occurs when there is connectivity issue, to ensure your printer is connected properly we assign a manual IP Address:

Let's follow steps mentioned below to check if your printer has Manual IP Address and and a manual DNS address assigned to it:

* Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.

* Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

* Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

* Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

* Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Also, perform a Firmware Update following steps from the link: Click here (You need your PC to do so)

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!

Thank you!  This solution worked great!  I waited for a couple days to confirm it did work by printing several times from the phone when the printer was in sleep mode.  Now I can confirm that your solution definitely worked!
