So, I have my printer on a wired connection on the 192.168.1.0/subnet. My WiFi is on a 192.168.0.0/24 subnet as the Deco mesh Access Points create a gateway to the wired network - if they act as a bridge all the access controls and AV goes out the window.
Setting up the printing on either Mac or Windows from the WiFi is fine as I set the IP address of the printer and it works. However, printing from an iPad fails. Attempting to manually enter the IP address of the printer, and it won’t accept the address.
Is there a way round this?

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!
Please provide the following information to assist you better.
- Is the printer connected to the same network as the iPad?
- You can check the IP address on your iPad by going to Settings >WiFi >Click on the WiFi name > IP address.
- Make sure the printer and iPad are on the same subnet.
- Are you using HP Smart app or the Airprint feature on the iPad to print?
Cheers!

No, as stated in the question the printer and ipad are on different subnets - printer on wired 192.168.1.0/24 subnet and ipad on 192.168.0.0/24 subnet.
For an 'office' class printer having different subnets shouldn't be an issue, but the clearly the HP Smart print app, was designed for home use only.

Since the issue is only when printing from the iPad, it is most likely an issue with Bonjour discovery.
Some routers will have a built-in-firewall and some of the ports need to be open for Bonjour to work properly.
Refer to this Apple document that shows all the ports that need to be open.
Let me know if this helps or if you need any further assistance.
Cheers!

Ah. so you are saying that the HP app requires bonjour.
However, bonjour only works on a singular subnet, unless I use a Bonjour Gateway device in the mix given Bonjour is Apple's version of mDNS.
Kinda defeats the object of having the option to add printer by IP address, if you still need Bonjour connectivity.
