Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
The printer is perhaps not aware of the paper you are wanting to use.
Reminder: HP Smart - Mobile - Tray and Paper settings must adjusted before opening the object to be printed.

Note Step 6 (on page 11).
Right after the paper is loaded and the drawer is closed, look for a message on the printer to modify the paper size / type.
OR
If you dislike typing on tiny Printer Control Panel, or for any other reason,
Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to Check / Adjust the Paper Size & Type - Tray and Paper

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management
Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type
Model Dependent: Advanced section
Click Apply to save changes
