I am having the same issue.  I reset both the router and printer to factory default.  All were reset and brought back online.  I downloaded the latest software from HP and am stuck at the "wireless setup" section.  I am able to selct the correct wifi name; but I am no able to enter the password.  Once I click the name, the next screen says "security: no encryption" which is incorrect.  The router is setup with WPA home use and WPA2-AES with a password assigned.  This seems to be the hang up.  I can connect the printer with a cable to the router's usb port on the back (not service port) but i am still stuck at the setup wifi problem on the printer's touchscreen and cannot continue on computer setup without completing the network setup on the printer itself.  Is there some other modem setting I need to change that I am missing? I do not have WPS enabled so I need to be able to enter the password on the printer.

Easy Fix. Wi-fi extender with Ethernet jack. Problem solved. I used a TP LinkAC1200 dual band. Plug printer directly into WiFi Extender.
