HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wide Format All-in-One Printer

I recently purchased a HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e All-in-One Printer via Amazon as I was looking to replace my aging HP A3 printer with something newer that supported InstantInk.

Ive installed the printer, and everything seems to work, except this annoyance when I try to print from an iPhone or my iPad.

The printer displays as "send-to-hp-roam". I have set a personalised Printer Name in the web control panel under AirPrint in the Advanced Settings section of the Network Settings, but the printer doesn't seem to honour this as it continues to broadcast "send-to-hp-roam".

In addition, It seems I am unable to disable AirPrint, if I turn it off in the web control panel, it available to print to.

I have spent in excess of 6 or 7 hours troubleshooting this with HP support via WhatsApp with little success and am now on the verge of sending the printer back.

Has anyone else had this issue, or no of a solution?

We have factory reset the printer, restarted all devices as well as remove the HP Smart app and re-install, all with no affect.

@TerryRogers84, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Turn off HP Roam:

Go to your printer’s web settings (type printer IP address in a browser).

Disable HP Roam under Web Services.

Reset Network Settings:

On the printer, go to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi.

Restart Devices:

Restart both your printer and your iPhone/iPad.

Check Network:

Make sure your iPhone/iPad and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support

Check for any updates for the printer through the HP Smart app or web settings.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

Thanks for coming back to me. Apologies for the delay in responding.

I do not have the Web Services menu you mention to disable HP Roam.

Why is this?

Network Settings have been reset, no change.

I have restarted all devices, again no change.

Both my client devices (PC, iPhone & iPad) and my Printer are all on the same Wi-Fi Network.

My printer firmware is up-to-date.
