I just installed my new HP Officejet Pro 8120e printer and have an issue with the scan function. Via HP Smart the scan function works well but if i want to attach a scan via an email on the printer i do not find how to exactly do this.

Hi @Hallo10,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e printer for scanning to email directly from the printer, follow these steps.
Enable Web Services:
- On your printer's control panel, go to Settings > Web Services or HP ePrint.
- Follow the prompts to enable Web Services and set up HP ePrint. You may need to update firmware if prompted.
Access HP Printer Email Setup:
- Once Web Services are enabled, your printer will display an email address (for example, yourprinter@hpeprint.com).
- This address allows you to send scanned documents via email directly from the printer using HP’s cloud services.
Scan to Email from HP Smart:
- Open the HP Smart app on your device (PC, smartphone, or tablet).
- Select Scan and perform the scan as usual.
- Once the scan is complete, choose the option to share it via email. This will open your email client with the scanned file attached, ready for you to send.
Configure Email on the Printer’s Control Panel (if available):
- Some HP printers have a Scan-to-Email setup option. Navigate to Scan > Email on the control panel.
- Follow the setup wizard to configure email settings (SMTP server, email address, etc.). This requires access to SMTP information from your email provider, which you may need to input manually.
If the option to scan directly to email is unavailable on the printer’s control panel, scanning via the HP Smart app and then emailing the document is the most efficient solution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
