When I try to connect my new printer to my Wifi Network it asks me for a password (not the wifi password - the printer password). Where do I find that? There is no use manual with the printer - except for on a CD - and I don't have a cd drive.....

Hi @vickiwalder

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

there is no such password for the printer. Make sure you are trying to connect the printer to your wireless network and not to the wifi-direct.

Wifi-direct is different from your wireless network. This is used if you do not have access to your router.

The default password is 12345678. For more info, refer to this document. there will be no internet access on the iOS device while using the wifi-direct.

To connect the printer to the wireless network,

On the printer, go to Setup > Network > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard > Select your network name > Enter your network password.

  • Make sure the printer and the iOS device are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the iOS device should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
