Wi-Fi Direct works fine, it prints and everything. But when regular Wi-Fi is enabled, the computers (Mac and Windows) and the phone don’t see it.

Hi @ElEm_26,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 580-590 is not being detected over a regular Wi-Fi connection, but it works fine with Wi-Fi Direct. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Wi-Fi and Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer’s Wi-Fi is turned on. You can usually find a Wi-Fi button on the printer's control panel.
  • Make sure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Double-check the network SSID (Wi-Fi name) and password.

Restart Network Devices:

  • Restart your router by unplugging it for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  • Restart your printer and computers to refresh the network connection.

Place the Printer Close to the Router:

  • Position your printer closer to the Wi-Fi router to ensure a strong signal without interference.

Update Printer Firmware:

Configure Network Settings:

  • Access the printer’s embedded web server (EWS) for network settings:
    • Find the printer’s IP address by printing a Network Configuration report.
    • Enter the IP address into a web browser to open the EWS.
    • Configure network settings to ensure the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Disable Wi-Fi Direct Temporarily:

  • Temporarily turn off Wi-Fi Direct on the printer to ensure it is not conflicting with the regular Wi-Fi connection.

Check Firewall and Security Software:

  • Ensure that firewalls or security software on your devices are not blocking the printer’s connection.

Reset Network Settings:

  • You may need to reset the printer’s network settings and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
