@Catherinecamer, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue where the body of your Word and PDF documents isn't printing from your iPhone, even though headings and signatures are printing correctly. You've already checked ink levels, cleaned the printhead, and restarted the printer, great troubleshooting steps so far!

Let’s try a few more steps to resolve this:

Check Print Settings on iPhone

Sometimes, AirPrint or app-specific settings may cause formatting issues:

  • Ensure you're using the HP Smart app to print. If not, download it from the App Store.
  • Open the document in HP Smart and try printing from there.
  • In the print preview, tap Options and ensure Black & White is not selected (if your document is in color or grayscale).

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause printing anomalies:

  • Open the HP Smart app > Tap your printer > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  • Go to Tools > Printer Updates and install any available updates.
  • Alternatively, visit HP Software and Driver Downloads and enter your printer model.

Try Printing from Another Device

To isolate the issue:

  • Try printing the same document from a Windows PC or Mac.
  • If the body prints correctly, the issue is likely with the iOS printing pipeline.

Convert the Document to Image Format

As a workaround:

  • Take a screenshot of the document or convert it to an image (JPEG/PNG).
  • Print the image using HP Smart. This can bypass formatting issues in PDFs or Word files.

Reset Printing System (Optional)

If the issue persists:

  • On the printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi and re-add it to the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
