That claim code is invalid, try entering a valid claim code

HP Recommended
HP OfficeJet Pro 9015
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've tried to connect my printer to HPConnected.com, but it keeps hitting me with the same message: "That claim code is invalid, try entering a valid claim code."

I've tried rebooting the machine, re-enabling web services, and I get different claim codes every time I print one out anyway, so it doesn't seem to matter what I do.

I was wondering if the code I have is the right code, but it's formatted exactly as shown on the second example below: 16 characters spaced out like the digits on a Visa. Also it doesn't seem to matter whether I include the spaces or not.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @JerrySmith4

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Assign a static IP address to the printer.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Note: You may watch this video for a better understanding.

A Claim Code is valid for 24 hours only, likely this is the reason it is being rejected.

Press the HP ePrint icon on your control panel display and select Remove Web Services. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Web Services, press the HP ePrint icon again, and then follow the prompts to re-enable Web Services. A new Printer Info Page prints with a new claim code. Try to claim the printer again using the new claim code.

For more info on resolving claiming the printer, refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
