I have an iPhone 14 and my printer suddenly stopped printing from it about 3 or 4 weeks ago. My phone finds the printer on the page to select printer, I select it and return to the previous page and the printer selection disappears.. I some cases it will let me select and "print" but it just puts it in a printer Queue and never prints. It just holds it in the Queue. I had no trouble printing to till just a few weeks ago. It prints fine from my laptop.

Welcome to the HP Community --
Printer Model unknown.
Connection type unknown
App unknown
Some Ideas
Make sure your iPhone is not pending an Update to the software - if it is, do that first, then come back to printing.
What else?
Odd things can happen if the HP Smart app is installed on more than one device (computer, tablet, phone) and one of the devices where the app is installed is running an outdated version of the application for that platform.
OR...
A different underlying cause depends on the printer model
and
The application you are using to submit the job
and
Whether you are using Print Anywhere to submit a job to a printer not on the same network.
Important
If you are using Print Anywhere, tell us the printer model and whether you are the printer owner or a guest. I will try to provide additional information related to that setup.
What else?
If you have not done so,
If the printer and the phone are on the same network,
Try Restarting the printer and switching your phone OFF for a few seconds and then switch back on.
Yes, I know... a phone that is off is a scary thing.
Wait for the printer to completely restart - generally a couple of minutes or longer...
Next,
If the printer and the phone are on the same network,
Try using the built-in AirPrint option to print.

What else?
If you are using HP Smart and the application simply will not cooperate,
You can, if you wish, try
Remove printer from the App
Close app for a few seconds
Open App and try to add your printer to the app.

Thank you Dragon Fur. To answer some of your questions:
I have a HP OfficeJet 9018e. I'm thinking this may have started occurring with a recent apple update on my phone. Also, there is a pending update which I'm initiating tonight...iOS17.5. The HP Smart App is on my laptop, my iPhone and my PC.
I am not familiar with Print Anywhere but there is a selection from my iphone for just Print and it's not part of the HP Smart App. Sometimes I use that...but it won't work either.
I have done the turning on and off of both the printer and my phone...no effect.

You are welcome.
That's one of the problems with not having the printer model -- your question might be ignored or you can get completely overwhelmed with ideas and stuff you never heard of. Smiling.
Ignore Print Anywhere for now -- ask or look into it later if you are interested.
OK - Nothing works, not even AirPrint.
It sounds like the printer and the printer and the phone is not on the same network.
Check that you are using your local Wireless network and not your Data line.
All things equal, AirPrint should work when it can access the printer on the same network.

and
If HP Smart still won't work,
then it might be worth uninstalling HP Smart / Restart phone / reinstalling HP Smart on the phone.
Remember - New connections to printer:
Have Phone Location service and Bluetooth switched ON
No, printer is not Bluetooth - HP Smart uses Bluetooth and Location at initial connection and setup.
