Hi @wamm56,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you
When encountering a UIPrinterDomainError error 4 while attempting to print wirelessly from an iPhone or iPad to an HP printer, it generally indicates a communication issue between the devices and the printer. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem:
Restart Your Devices: Begin by restarting your printer, iPhone, and iPad. This can often clear temporary communication issues.
Check Printer Connection: Ensure your HP printer is correctly connected to your Wi-Fi network. Verify the network by printing a Wireless Network Test Report or a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel.
Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. HP frequently releases updates to improve functionality and resolve issues. You can find firmware updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.
Update iOS: Make sure your iPhone and iPad are running the latest version of iOS. Updates often include fixes for connectivity issues.
Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi Network: On your iPhone and iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, then tap on the "i" next to your Wi-Fi network, and choose "Forget This Network." Reconnect by selecting the network again and entering your password.
Check Printer Settings: Ensure that your printer is not set to use a direct wireless connection (Wi-Fi Direct) if trying to print through a Wi-Fi network, as this can cause conflicts.
Use HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on your iPhone and iPad. The app can help manage printer connections and even offers troubleshooting tools.
Reset Printer Network Settings: On the printer, look for an option to reset network settings to default. This can sometimes clear network-related issues. Note that you will need to reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network afterward.
Enable AirPrint: Make sure AirPrint is enabled on your printer. AirPrint is the technology that allows Apple devices to connect to printers without needing additional drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
