I need reset Embedded Web Server username and password so I can fix another issue with printer.
I have tried logging in using:
User Name: admin (all lower case)
Password: (the one I have saved doesn't work)
I reset the printer to factory defaults from the printer itself. I also manually reset the IP address and then attempted to access the EWS again, but it still requires a password.
Ideally, I would be able to get rid of the password requirement altogether, but I cannot get into the EWS.
This whole mess started because the printer shows the following error message when I try to scan:
SMTP server requires authentication. Make sure SMTP username and password are specified.
I recently changed my Microsoft password, and I have 2-factor authentication set up if this is at all relevant to the SMTP error message.
Thanks to anyone who can help sort out this mess.

1. Turn off the printer.
3. Wait for the message Permanent storage init. Then release the buttons.
Wait for about 2 min. When the printer is back at the ready screen it has been reset.

Hi Valsimot,
Thank you so much for taking time to reply to my post. My printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 8725) only has an electronic panel, so once it's powered off, the arrow and cancel are not available. If you have any other ideas, please let me know -- again, appreciate your help.
