Foolishly I set up an admin password now everything is locked and it's asking for my admin user name? What is my admin username?

Hi,

Please try Admin. I know thousands of devices out there have Admin as default adinistrator name UNTIL users change it.

Regards.

OK You guys must not use your own products, and if you do they must not be very secure.  We have to have passwords on all our devices.  The HP M501dn has a menu option to add a password.  It does nto tell me if the password does not work or that it stripped all the letters off it or anything.  And it most certainly never asked me to change the **bleep** admin user name.

After I entered the password, it now requires a user name to log into the printer.

To answer your question, No, admin does not work. Nor does Admin. Or Administrator, or administrator. I even tried the user Sluggo McFist and that failed. I spent four hours at a customer today on a job that should have been 20 minutes. I am not a happy camper.

I wanted to "secure my online printer so the "russians don't send me any virus and voilá.... I set up an admin password now everything is locked and just like you, I didn't change any username... I cant change any option

but at least I still can print... 😕

Hi, i had same problem. Problem is not in username, username is “admin”, problem is that you settup password in custom length. But it shorted it to 16 digits. All you need to do is to write username : admin and password : your password shortered to 16 digits.
