I'm using the SMART TANK 519 printer for daily paper or photo printing at home, but recently I found the wireless printing is not so table. Sometimes my phone cannot connect to the printer successfully, and it makes me have to move on to the computer for wire-connected priting.. What's the possible reason?? How to fix the problem

Hi @Vinia22

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

Unstable wireless printing with your HP Smart Tank 519 on Windows 11 and mobile devices can be caused by several common issues, especially in a home environment.
Here are some of the steps to solve the issue,

Keep Printer and Router Close

  • Place the printer within 6–8 feet of your router, with as few walls or objects in between as possible.

Use the same Network

  • Make sure your phone and printer are on the same 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network.

  • Disable “Auto-switch” on your phone, if available.

Assign a Static IP to the Printer

  • Go to the printer's IP address via browser (find it in the printer’s network report or via HP Smart).

  • Set the printer to use a manual IP address from within the embedded web server (EWS).

  • This prevents the IP from changing and breaking the connection.

Update Everything

  • Use HP Smart to check for firmware updates on the printer.

  • Update the HP Smart App on your phone.

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi router firmware is also up to date.

Prevent Sleep Disruptions

  • Go to printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) > Settings > Power Management.

  • Disable Deep Sleep or increase the sleep timeout duration.

Reconnect & Reinstall

  • On your phone, "Forget" the printer, uninstall HP Smart, and reinstall it fresh.

  • On your PC, remove the printer from Devices > Printers & Scanners, then re-add it via HP Smart or Windows.

Consider a Wi-Fi Direct Alternative

  • If your home Wi-Fi is unreliable, try using Wi-Fi Direct for printing from phones (printer broadcasts its own network).

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved, and if you feel this reply was helpful, click “Yes”.
