I 'm trying to connect my ipad to my C4780 printer wirelessly. I ran the Wireless Network Test Report and found that the Network name (SSID) for the printer relates to an old router and is not correct for the current router. So I need to run the 'wireless network setup'. I have followed the 'accepted solution' posted by Shlom in April 2018 (i.e. using the WPS menu 'Push button' option). The printer screen just says 'trying to connect' then eventually times out. My Virgin wireless router works fine in all other respects and has a WPS button feature. Is there another / better way to connect the printer to my wireless network? How does the 'PIN' option work? There also seems to be a restricted 'Wifi protected setup' option - can this be used somehow?
Make sure the printer and the iPad are connected to the same wireless network.
This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the iOS device should be on the 2.4GHz network.
If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the iPad
Check for any software updates on the iOS device.
Kindly refer to this document to know how to connect the printer to the wireless network using the WPS method.
Alternatively, you may also refer to page 5 of the user manual which also tells about the PIN method.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your response but my problem as posted is that I cannot connect my printer to the network. I'm sure it was connected in the past with an older Virgin router and HP printing on the IPad worked. Ive had the new router for a while but have not attempted the iPad print until now . The Wifi push button approach seems simple enough but the connection fails to be made. Is there another approach?
