I just got this printer yesterday and the set up went fine until I tried to connect it to my wifi network. Using the set up wizard I entered the wifi password and the connection was "successful". The wireless light shows the connection has been established, but the printer IP is continuously "updating", and I can't register for the printing plan because there is a "network error". (I installed the software by connecting the printer to my computer USB). Any ideas?

Check IP address in network configuration report
1. From the printer control panel, touch ( Wireless ), and then touch ( Settings ).
2. Touch Print Reports. and then touch Network configuration Page or Wireless Test Report
Assign manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
To identify which IP address is currently assigned to the printer, do the following:

- Press the right arrow button until Network Setup appears in the LED window, and then press the OK button.
- Press the right arrow button again until the Print Network Settings option is displayed, and then press the OK button. This prints the network settings, which include the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway (the address of your network’s router).
Setting a Static IP Address
Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wired.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.

Hey Sandytechy20 thanks so much for your prompt support. Strange to say, the problem has resolved itself without any further intervention from my end. I noticed the wireless light seemed to be constant for long periods so I hit the wireless icon to check the situation and... there's the IP address! (Recently I have been receiving warnings from Avast that my computer was connecting to an unknown network. Maybe that caused the problem with the printer?) Anyway, I signed up for the printing plan and everything's fine now. So thanks again and "buon lavoro" as they say here in Italy.
Cheers.

@Sandytechy20,
My printer has stopped printing and the message on the control panel is "cannot print. Connect printer to update HP instant ink status." I am unable to set up a static IP address because when I enter the printer IP my browser tells me the site cannot be reached. Last night a different IP address appeared briefly on the control panel and my computer tried to install a driver, but it was unsuccessful and now I'm back to "IP updating..." as before. Any suggestions?

Let's restore the printer back to the network defaults and then run the Wireless setup wizard on the printer.
To restore the printer to the original network settings
1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch (Settings).
2. Touch Restore Network Settings, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to print the network configuration page and check if the printer is restored.
To print the network configuration page,
On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch (Wireless) to display the network status screen. Touch Print Info to print the network configuration page.
Once done, Run the wireless setup wizard on the printer to connect to the network. For more details, please go through the User guide of your printer and scroll down to page number 67.
1. From the printer control panel display, touch (Wireless).
2. Touch (Settings).
3. Touch Wireless Settings
4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard .
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
Once the printer is connected to the network, Login to your Instant ink account page and then click on refresh and check the status.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Thank you and have a wonderful week ahead 😊
