OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One

I have a question that I think i know the answer to but I need to confirm with some experts.

My place of work has purchased a

OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One to allow a site manager to print off some emails from his phone via the "wi-fi"

i have recently joined the business (after they purcahsed the printer) and I have been informed by the site manager that he has never beena ble to get get it connected and printed. There is no Internet connection, there is no newtork connection. there isnt even a phone line (its a new site in the middle of a feild) so they have no internet access. I would be under the impression that this can not work but can this be done.

If it can, i can gpo to site and work it out but no point heading out to site if this is impossible without a network connection.

Yes, you can use WiFi Direct with this printer.  Download the User guide here.

And read how to set it up on page 87.
