Hi @Sarah803,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2700e printer is able to print but not able to make copies, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Check for Sufficient Ink Levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges in your printer have sufficient ink levels. Low ink levels may affect the copy function.
  • Paper Loading and Condition: Make sure that the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray, and the paper is not damaged or wrinkled. The printer may have difficulty making copies if the paper is not loaded properly.
  • Scanner Lid Position: The scanner lid should be securely closed during the copying process. If the lid is not closed properly, it may interfere with the copying function.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can address bugs and improve overall performance.
  • Clean the Scanner Glass: If the scanner glass is dirty, it may affect the quality of copies. Clean the scanner glass using a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner.
  • Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages or lights on the printer control panel. These may provide clues about the specific issue.
  • Test with Different Paper: Try making copies with different types of paper to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the type or quality of paper can affect the copying process.
  • Reinstall Printer Drivers: Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and reinstall them. Corrupted or outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with printing or copying.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
