Hi There;

I have been attempting to connecting my MacBook Pro to my HP OfficeJet 4650.  They don't seem to be communicating with each other.  I have checked the IP addresses, uninstalled the printer several times and reinstalled it and tried other suggestions I found online.  Yesterday I was able to print a document but today there is no luck.  Any support or assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks very much!

Further to my post, I find that the printer will only print one job, then I have to reset the system again.  Do you have any ideas as to how to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, request you follow the procedure mentioned below to assign a manual IP address to the printer and check if it resolves the issue.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer (which can found by pressing the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel)
  • Enter the IP address on the web browser (Ex: chrome, IE) to enter the printer EWS page.
  • Go to the “Network” tab, click on “Wireless (802.11) then click on “Network address (IPV4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

Let me know if this helped.

Hi again;

I tried typing in the IP address of the printer on my laptop but it times out.  Have tried different browsers (Chrome, Safari) with no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hello, @RunningCyb

Try the steps below to perform a network power drain on the printer. Here are the steps:

  1. Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.
  2. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.
  4. Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.
  5. Then turn on the printer and other devices.

Now, try to reset the printing system and then add the printer drivers again. (Make sure not to add the AirPrint drivers, but the default printer drivers)

Hope that helps!

Spoke to soon!   Worked well for about an hour but then stopped working.  We are back to removing and reinstalling the printer each time we want to use it, now with both of our laptops.  Very frustrating.

Any help would be much appreciated.  We are almost ready to give up and buy another printer.

Thanks

RunningCyb

P.S.  Also, it stops while in the middle of a printing job and the printer screen says "Printing" but there is nothing happening.
