Welcome to the HP Community --

A Sim card installed in the SIM port does not work without the optional WWAN module installed inside the computer.

WWAN / LTE module is available at purchase of some CTO (Custom to Order) products and perhaps as part of a bundled purchase option.

When both a supported SIM card and the WWAN Broadband module are installed, setup is available in your Network settings.

Settings > Network & internet

Switch ON Cellular (name might vary by region) > Open the section to see any additional options

WWAN / Mobile Broadband adapter / module

Many laptops include the sim card slot -- not all computers include the necessary WWAN module inside the computer that provides the SIM card a way to talk to the Mobile Broadband network provider.

The Mobile Broadband adapter is an option -- you must add the feature during a custom build order or the option must come as part of a bundled purchase.
