@hyfv, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Tango X Wi-Fi Password Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you forget the Wi-Fi password for your HP Tango X printer, you can resolve this issue by accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) or through the printer's control panel. Here are the steps to recover or reset the Wi-Fi Direct password:

Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Find the Wi-Fi Direct name and password:
    • HP Smart app: Open the HP Smart app, click the image of your printer, and then click Advanced Settings to open the printer Embedded Web Server (EWS). From the EWS homepage, click the Network or Networking tab, and then click Wi-Fi Direct > Setup to view the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
    • Printers with a touchscreen control panel: On the control panel, touch the Wi-Fi Direct icon to view the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
    • Printers without a touchscreen control panel: On the control panel, press the Information button to print an Information Report. Look for the Wi-Fi Direct section on the printed report.

Manually Access the EWS

If you prefer to manually access the EWS directly:

On your computer or mobile device: Open the Wi-Fi or wireless settings to view the list of available networks.

Select your Wi-Fi Direct printer name from the list of networks and enter the password to connect to the printer.

Open an internet browser and type 192.168.223.1 into the browser address bar and press Enter.

Note: Do not enter the IP address into a search engine.

Changing Wi-Fi Direct Password and Settings

  1. Log into the EWS:
    • If prompted to log in or enter the printer PIN, enter admin for the username (HP LaserJets only). Enter the PIN from the printer label, which is typically located inside the cartridge access area or printer door, and then click Submit or OK.
  2. On the printer home page:
    • Click Network, select Wi-Fi Direct, and then click Status.
  3. Edit Settings:
    • On the Status screen, click Edit Settings.
    • Customize the settings such as Wi-Fi Direct Name, Connection Method, and Wi-Fi Direct Password to make the Wi-Fi Direct connection more secure.

Refer to this link for further information.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
