I am trying to set up my printer wireless connection and the LED screen on the printer asks for WiFi Direct password and provides boxes with either 2 numbers or 3 letters. How does one enter the second letter or number? I could not seem to find a key on the LED of the printer to change to the 2nd letter and I downloaded the complete guidebook for this printer.

Greetings @ScrappyOT,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are looking to enter the Wireless direct password for your printer, is that right?
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Are you able to print and copy fine on your printer?
Is your printer connected to the wireless network?
Have you tried setting up the wireless direct password on your printer using the EWS page of the printer on your computer?
Please click here for the youtube video of unboxing your printer.
If you watch the video around 7:50 seconds, the video will show you on how to press the keys on the printer to enter a password.
For example the first button is abc, if you need to enter b, press the abc button twice in quick succession and for c press the abc button thrice in quickly.
Alternately, you can also access the EWS page of the printer on your computer and setup a wireless direct password.
Watch this youtube video for assistance.
Note: the video if for a different printer but the procedure is the same.
Let me know if this helped.

I have the same problem. I watched the video. It did not help at all. It tells me to hold the letter button until my letter (of the three in the box) appears, but that doesn't happen. The letters don't change. It will only give me the first letter in the box.
Why such a cheap shortcut in the setup? Why not have a button to select the letter?
