Hi @jim19552,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues while printing from your HP Envy printer. Don't worry I'll be really glad to help you with this.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I"ll need a few more details:
How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless
What is the Operating system installed on the PC? Windows or Mac
Are you able to make a copy from the printer?
Have you tried to print from other applications?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Now I would need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.
Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the copy comes out well, then the issue is with the print settings on your PC or with the printer drivers. Try the steps below to reinstall the correct drivers:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control Panel – Devices and Printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Now, click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL47762/mp-115701-6/EN4500_198.exe to download and install the software.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Once the printer is installed, try printing again. Also, try using different applications to print.
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
