Hi @alpin4545,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues printing from iOS devices to your newly set up HP Deskjet 4200 series printer, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

1. Check Printer and iOS Device Connectivity

Ensure Printer is Online: Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device. You can verify this by printing a Wireless Network Test Report or checking the printer's control panel.

Check iOS Device Connectivity: Ensure your iOS device has a stable Wi-Fi connection to the same network. Verify this in the Wi-Fi settings of your device.

2. Update Printer Firmware and Software

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Deskjet 4200 series printer. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve connectivity issues and improve printer performance. Check HP's official website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.

Update HP Smart App: If you're using the HP Smart app on your iOS device, ensure it's updated to the latest version from the App Store. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address printing issues.

3. Restart Printer and iOS Device

Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Restart iOS Device: Restart your iPhone or iPad by holding down the power button until you see the slide to power off slider. After your device turns off, wait a few seconds, then press and hold the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

4. Reconfigure Printer in HP Smart App

Remove and Re-add Printer: In the HP Smart app on your iOS device, remove the printer and then re-add it. This can sometimes refresh the connection settings and resolve communication issues.

Set Default Printer: In the HP Smart app, ensure that the newly set up HP Deskjet 4200 series printer is set as the default printer for your iOS device.

5. Check Print Queue and Clear Any Stuck Jobs

  • Clear Print Queue: If there are any pending print jobs in the print queue of your iOS device, try clearing them out. Sometimes, stuck print jobs can prevent new jobs from printing.

6. Test with AirPrint

  • Use AirPrint: If your HP Deskjet 4200 series printer supports AirPrint (which it should if it's a newer model), try printing using the AirPrint feature built into iOS. Open the document or photo you want to print, tap the Share icon, and then select Print. Choose your printer from the list and see if it prints successfully.

7. Check Firewall and Security Settings

  • Firewall Settings: Ensure that your network's firewall settings are not blocking communication between your iOS device and the printer. Adjust firewall settings as necessary to allow printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
