when trying to print from my iPhone 11 to my HP Officejet 3830 the paper size defaults to a #10 envelop and won't let me change the paper size the Letter. This only occurs when trying to print from my iPhone. ???? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Make sure the "feed from" option is set to the default that has letter else letter will not be in the paper size option

If it is set correctly, then change it to something else and then change back to the feeder with letter.

Unfortunately, I often find I have to shutdown and power back up my own iPhone  to clear out old settings.

Airprint?

iPhone supports the Airprint app on the same network as the printer.

Airprint might not have more than a spot to change the printer (destination).

If not done, do check whether you can adjust the Media settings.

What else?

HP Smart and possibly AirPrint, too, might not know (understand / "see") how the paper settings are adjusted / set on the printer.

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check / adjust the Tray and Paper settings.

Next,

After the Tray and Paper Settings are confirmed, try your job setup again.

Example - Standard EWS - Tray and Paper

EWS > HP Document / How-to (InkJet Printers – Original Format)

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

OR

HP Laser Printers - Using the Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Reminder:  If asked enter the printer’s PIN number – the default number is generally located on the back or inside the printer.

EWS – Tray and Paper Management

Original EWS

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model and EWS version Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes
