@831060, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding removing your AirPrint!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since AirPrint is built into the printer's firmware, you can't completely "remove" it, but you can disable it or stop your Mac from using it by setting up the printer with a direct driver instead. Here's how you can try fixing it:

Remove the Printer from Your Mac:

  • Open System Preferences > Print & Fax (or Printers & Scanners).
  • Select the printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.

Reinstall the Printer Using a Direct Driver:

  • Go to the HP website and download the driver for your printer model compatible with macOS X 10.6.
  • Once installed, go back to System Preferences > Print & Fax > Add (+).
  • Choose the printer and select the correct driver (instead of AirPrint) from the dropdown list.

Set the Newly Added Printer as Default:

  • After adding the printer, set it as default to avoid AirPrint from kicking in automatically.

If you don't see the correct driver or run into any issues, just let me know—I'll be happy to help further! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
