I've had the crackling problem after a recent Windows update and I've used the high definition audio driver but couldn't be doing with the lack of sound quality.
In the end after a play around I've found a fix which has worked for me and I can still use B&O features etc..
Go to device manager right click on sound, video and game controllers then find realtek. Click on update driver then browse computer for drivers and then let me pick from a list on my computer. This window should show the high definition driver and the related drivers. Ignore them and press on show compatibile hardware on the left hand side find realtek and then on the right hand side install the oldest driver for me it was the year 2018. Restart the laptop and the crackling/audio issues should be resolved!
Hope this works 👍
