first thanks for the post, I did as you instructed but after reboot went to updates and the one I need to hide is not there, did I do something wrong????

Did you check for Windows updates? It should appear in the list generated when you check for updates.

yes I did, the only one listed is something to do with Silverlight, but a different number than the one you mentioned, I followed the inst and everything went fine till I ckd for important updates, and its not listed there.....

Is the update still there in that updates list where you uninstalled it from? If not then I'm not sure. Keep an eye out for it though each time you update Windows.  Make sure you have your updates setting set to have you look over the updates rather than have Windows automatically install them all.

its not in the installed list any more, so I'll go and set the updates to ck them before there installed and my sound is working fine now, the volume is better also, thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.....

No problem! My sound has been working good too since I removed that update, and I have not been having blue screens anymore so I'd say at least for now this is the solution 🙂

I just hope the issue can be resolved with this type of update so we don't have similar issues in the future. Thanks!

How do I install and uninstall the drivers? can you please link me?

Danasmile11,

Try to uninstall Microsoft update KB2962407 before doing anything with your driver.  For a lot of people the driver change is only temporary, and uninstalling the update has fixed their problem.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I will definitely assist you with the computer's issue regarding sound. Before anything else is done, please make sure you try every step in this thread: Troubleshooting Guide: Audio does not Work after a Certain Period of Time

If every step does not help, please provide the following information:

1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your notebook product number

2. The computer's operating system. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website to determine your Windows operating system.

3. Does this occur on certain programs, or all programs?

4. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared?

5. What steps have been attempted from my first post on this thread, and what were the results?

Additionally, if the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore

Either way, let me know what happens. Thanks

Mario
