Microsoft Windows 11

My "Now Retired" Windows 10 HP laptop had B&O graphic equalizer installed from factory. My new HP Desktop with Windows 11 doesn't have factory installed B&O graphic equalizer (as far as I can tell). I want to download and install it but I can't find it on B&O webpages or Microsoft Store or Google Play store!. Any help with this, please?!.

Hi @Noel-D-Martin69

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Apologies for the inconvenience—finding the B&O Graphic Equalizer for HP on Windows 11 can be tricky since it’s not readily available for direct download. Here are some steps that might help:

Check HP’s Official Drivers Page

  • Visit HP’s support site and enter your desktop model to see if the B&O Audio Control software is available.

Install Realtek Audio Drivers

  • Some HP devices package B&O Audio Control within the Realtek HD Audio Driver.
  • Download and install the latest Realtek drivers from HP’s support page.

Look for HP Audio Enhancements

  • If B&O Audio Control isn’t available, HP may have replaced it with HP Audio Switch or other built-in enhancements.

Let me know if you need further guidance!

Thank you so much for your direction. I have looked through your suggested pages regarding drivers and the like and there are a lot on offer to "Download and Install". I looked at the updates history in my new Windows 11 Desktop and there are 18 "Driver Updates" installed, and 16 of them are Intel and HP, obviously downloaded and installed when setting-up my Windows 11 pc. I tried to download and install a couple of the drivers that were offered on the HP support page but it was then shown to me that these were already installed. I still can't find an actual "Download" button!. I can't find it through Microsoft store, either. Should I persist or should I just install one of the many "Equaliser Control" Apps, offered in Microsoft Store or Google Play?.

It’s great to hear that you’ve been thorough in checking your drivers! Since the B&O Graphic Equalizer doesn’t seem to be available as a standalone download, here are a few options to consider:

Check HP’s Support Forums

  • Other users have reported similar issues with missing B&O audio controls after upgrading to Windows 11. You can find discussions here and here.

Enable Sound Equalization in Windows 11

  • Windows has built-in audio enhancements that might help:
    • Open Sound Settings (mmsys.cpl in Run).
    • Select your audio device, go to Properties > Enhancements, and enable Loudness Equalization.
    • More details on enabling equalization can be found here.

Try Third-Party Equalizer Apps

  • If HP doesn’t provide a direct download, third-party equalizer apps from the Microsoft Store or Google Play might be a good alternative.
  • Look for apps like Equalizer APO or Peace Equalizer, which offer advanced audio tuning.

Since HP’s B&O Equalizer is often bundled within Realtek audio drivers, it may not be available separately. If you prefer an official HP solution, I’d recommend reaching out to HP support for clarification. Let me know how it goes!

I have found the Equaliser!, and it is installed in the PC. I resigned myself to installing a third party one but you know how it is.....that persistent determination in ones brain, telling you to find the thing you originally set out to find!.....well, I had my Sound Bar plugged into the back of the monitor and I got basic pc sound but I noticed the headphone Jack on the tower itself and then plugged it into that and went into HP Sound Centre, investigated some buttons and then clicked "Output" and BINGO!!!!, there was the equaliser!. It only seems to appear when using the headphone jack but I then exited the "Third Party" equaliser and the sound then cut out. I am still fiddling with it but I now know my PC has an installed equaliser!.

That’s fantastic—you kept at it and figured it out! Sometimes persistence pays off, and I love that moment when everything finally clicks into place.

It’s interesting that the equalizer only appears when using the headphone jack.

It could be tied to how HP’s audio software prioritizes different outputs, but at least you now know it’s built-in and functional. If you ever run into further quirks with it, I’m happy to troubleshoot with you.

Enjoy tweaking your sound settings!

Take care, and stay fantastic!
