OMEN by HP Laptop W2N35UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Omen Laptop - product number :W2N35UA#ABA

Microphone is not working, all troubleshooting via windwows, and HP Support Assistant Audio Check show that it is working. I also updated drivers via HP Support Assistant to no avail.

In windows sound settings, and under the recording tab i see microphone array enabled, but i cannot get the green bars to light up indicating a working microphone.

If  i attach a usb logitech headset with microphone, same thing. The headphones will work, but the microphone will not.

This is a software issue, and not a hardware one if new hardware also does not work.

UPDATE!

Windows privacy settings had turned off my microphone, or really made it so it wasn't available. Now it works. However it is VERY low, even after adjusting it to 100% and the boost to 100%

@redstarjedi

I reviewed your post and I understand that the microphone is very low on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I am glad to hear that the microphone is working now. I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps the microphone volume.

1. Disable enhancements

  - Right Click on the Volume icon on the taskbar, select "Recording“, Double

     click on Microphone.

  - Open the Enhancements / Effects Tab.

  - Check "Disable All Sound / System Effects“. Click Apply, OK, test the Microphone again.

2. Change format of the Microphone

  - Right click on the Volume Icon on the taskbar, select "Recording Devices".

  - Double click on Microphone.

  - Go to the Advanced Tab, choose any of the 16 bit options on the list.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
