HP All-in-One - 24-df0076
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

System Restore removed what I thought was a corrupt LAN driver from the computer. The driver was SP148266. System Restore also removed the sound from the computer, and prevented any Microsoft updates. It may be November 22nd before the Microsoft Update program will unfreeze to let any updates happen. Microsoft Update said it would resume on that date, and It won't let anyone resume updates. We didn't download, or pay, for Microsoft Windows Defender, and that also did sneak into the computer to be angry at several zip files, and delete some software. Microsoft Defender won't tell anyone what it deleted, or what it was doing. I wanted to fix the sound by downloading HP Audio Center, but the Microsoft Store says something went wrong on their side, and it won't reinstall. I have downloaded the Windows 10 HP Audio drivers, and installed it. No sound after reinstalling the drivers with the HP Audio Control. HP Audio Control isn't HP Audio Center from the MS Store. After reading the answer given on this forum about installing HP Audio Center from the Microsoft Store only, I know some people mistook the HP Audio Control that comes with audio drivers for that HP Audio Center software. Can you help restore the sound to this computer, and restore the Microsoft Updates too? We signed into the MS Account and tried to reinstall at this URL. https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/hp-audio-center/9NSSRGMH5940?hl=en-US&gl=US     The software gave an automatic response saying something went wrong on Microsoft Store App reinstall site. We tried a few more times. I have given feedback to them after that web sites Microsoft troubleshooting software tried to fix anything the sound system. Please email to us if anyone replies? Thank you for your tolerance.

Hi @ MJNLMN343,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your HP All-In-One and the sound system. Let's try to troubleshoot and resolve the problems step by step.

1. Sound Issue:

a. Check Audio Settings:

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
  2. Under the "Choose your output device" section, make sure the correct output device is selected.

b. Device Manager:

  1. Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager."
  2. Locate "Sound, video and game controllers," and check if your audio device is listed without any warning symbols (yellow triangles or red X).

c. Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  1. In Device Manager, right-click on your audio device and select "Uninstall device."
  2. After uninstalling, restart your computer.
  3. Windows should automatically reinstall the audio drivers. Check if the sound is restored.

d. HP Support Assistant:

  1. Download and install the HP Support Assistant.
  2. Run a check for updates and install any audio-related updates.

2. Microsoft Update Issue:

a. Date and Time Settings:

  1. Ensure that your computer's date and time settings are correct.

b. Windows Update Troubleshooter:

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
  3. Run the "Windows Update Troubleshooter."

c. Windows Update Service:

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Locate the "Windows Update" service, right-click it, and select "Properties."
  3. Set the Startup type to "Automatic" and click "Start."

3. HP Audio Center:

If you're still having trouble with the HP Audio Center, try the following:

  1. Download the HP Audio Center directly from the https://support.hp.com/us-en
  2. Enter your product details, locate the audio driver, and download the HP Audio Center if available.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

After doing step 1 nothing restored the sound. Installing the HP Support Assistant was done, but the software can't login, so it won't do anything at this time. After doing step 2, the time is syncronized, the services.msc opened up, and the Windows Update service is now turned on, but nothing will update, or update after a reboot. At least it is no longer turned off. HP Audio Center is only available from the Microsoft Store. The HP Audio Control is always available, because it comes with the latest drivers. HP Audio Control was uninstalled, and then it came back after the Audio Drivers were reinstalled. No sound, and no Windows 10 Update, continues to be the problems on a very normal computer. Windows Update history says we have Windows 10, version 22H2. Thank you for your help, but nothing has changed for the better at this time, other than Windows Update service was turned on. It is possible that we should wait until November 23, 2023 for the pause in Windows Update to end, in the hope it won't be frozen any longer like it is now frozen? Hiren's PE also proved the sound hardware was working normally, and it can make sounds too. Hiren's PE was booted by DVD drive, and CHKDSK also showed no problems. Downloading the HP hardware diagnostic tool has been done, but we must install it later tonight, because we have somethings other more important to do. Thank you, but little was problem solved.

After installing the HP Hardware Diagnostic sp147314 nothing much happened. It may have been successfully installed. Clicking on the HPUP.exe program made a log file, but nothing much happened. When looking on the Internet to see if I missed anything I found a website new to me. What is https://download.driversupport.com/?  Is it another way to download HP Support Assistant? It is name, "Driver Support One." We continue to have the same issues; no sound, Windows update is on pause until November 23, and we can't resume it, and no,  "HP Audio Center App," from the Microsoft store can be installed. Do we need to start a new Microsoft account, and sign up using a new Microsoft email address? We may have made a mistake in using our Comcast account, and email address to log into the Microsoft store, or does that make any difference? We had too many email addresses, and cancelled our Microsoft email account, but the store did like our Comcast address in the past, and let us download apps. Thank you for your help.
