there is no external or internal microphone listed or operational?
HP Pavilion G6 - 2382sa D0Y14EA#ABU
MS Windows 10 - 64 bit
The only thing listed is the IDT high definition Audio CODEC.
There is no mention of any Dolby either?

I enabled the "Only 'show' disconnected/disable devices" options and the internal mic popped up and my headset mic popped up as well.
Upon enabling them there was lots of feedback and echoing/reverb. However, after a couple of minutes the headset mic option changed to "CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE" and the mic went dead? Restarted Laptop but made no difference?
When I unplugged the headset mic the option changed to "grayed out", and when I plugged it back in, it changed back to colour with a green tick but still unavailable?
cheers!

Hi,
It has microphone and headphone jacks:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03617754
And IDT high definition Audio CODEC will cover Altec Lansing speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio as well.
Regards.

I know it has the sockets and it mentions dolby on the top right hand corner above the keyboard, but there is no mention of a dolby software interface and there is no mention of microphones in the software (either internal or my plugged in external version?) When I use the voice/sound recorder nothing is recorded? So yes, the hardware is definitely present, but there is no supporting software?

so there is no visible software interface for the IDT?
I can hear sound through the built in speakers and headphone socket, BUT NOTHING IS RECORDED? NO MICROPHONES DISPLAYED OR ACCESSIBLE?
By saying: "IDT high definition Audio CODEC will cover Altec Lansing speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio as well" -
...how does that help me fix the microphone fault please?
many thanks!

Hi,
Please try
(a) Right click speaker icon (bootom right corner),
(b) Select Recording devices
(c) Right click and enable IDT or Realtek,
(d) Enable it
You may want to select it as default.
Regards.

Please try
(a) Right click speaker icon (bootom right corner),
(b) Select Recording devices
OK - done'b' i.e. that is "I right clicked" but there is no recording devices listed in the window? Only 'show' disconnected/disable devices?
Many thanks!

Hi,
Ok, now I know why. You did upgrade your machine to Windows without any compatibility check. Its support page says:
Windows 10 drivers may be available through Windows Update
Click 'Learn More' below for steps on using Windows Update to determine what drivers might be available for your product. Please be aware that HP does not guarantee Windows 10 drivers will be available from Windows Update.
Now, please try the following fix. I ahould ask did you upgrade your machine from the beginning.
Good luck.

Got this response:
"HP encountered an error while trying to scan your product.
Please verify your product is powered on and connected, then try again in a few minutes.
Or, view all available drivers for your product below."
No drivers were shown?
