Hi,
My 2 year old HP Notebook recently has been acting up and it won't turn on after I leaving it charging after a few hours when its off. This happened a few days ago but I just left the battery out for about 3 hours and tried a few methods to drain out the power and it turned on normally.
Now I had accidentally left the charger in and the light was on but had switched off when I opened the lid and it refuses to turn on even after 8 hours without the battery or AC in.
The battery also makes a weird whistling noise which I also heard when it didn't turn on before. The AC Adapter works normally on a Dell Notebook but doesn't light up or anything on this HP Notebook.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Should I buy a new battery and if so, from where?
Thanks.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums, MKazi is at your service.
I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 15-ab200 Notebook and it does not power on anymore. I read that the charging light is not present on the laptop where the charger connects. The same charger works fine on another laptop. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
NOTE: Please skip the steps which you have performed already.
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
One more thing, if the laptop is not powering on with only the charger connected or with only the battery connected then the evidence points towards an internal failure with the laptop. In such a case I suggest you to contact our HP phone support to explore the available service options.
Hope this works out well. Keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

It happened for a 3rd time. (left it charging only for about 3 hours this time) and the solution doesn't work and the buzzing is back. Do I just have to wait for the laptop to fully drain of power or is there another method?
